~~Mission Statement: "Cochrane Family Farm is a small, natural farm with a country store on farm, raising and selling local, hand raised and made organic products aimed at offering a wide variety of high-quality, moderately priced, nutrient dense vegetables; as well as pasture raised pork following a permaculture methodology. We view ourselves as partners with our customers, our employees, our community and most importantly our environment. We aim to become a destination for providing our customers with not only high quality food, but also to educate and empower our clients to have the desire and the abilities to make better, healthier food choices. Our goal is moderate growth, annual profitability and never losing our close knit relationship with those that support us. It is all about the journey and bringing our clients along with us” • Family run 29.5 acre CSA vegetable farm and hog farm in operation for eight years and are currently in our Organic Certification phase. • Also Outlet store for Clarence Farm Services (Purina Feeds) supplying feed and farming supplies to neighbouring farms. • Do not use chemicals in our farming practices, no pesticides, herbicides, or growth accelerators. Only use natural cleaners in the house and barns such as white vinegar and lime. • Have 3 breeding boars (2 Berkshire, 1 Yorkshire), 10-12 sows, and on average 60 - 80 other pigs at any given time. Approximately 18 litters a year of pigs raised here. None of our pigs are given any antibiotics or other medicines. • Working towards a goal of permaculture farming • Pigs are pasture raised year round except for babies and expectant mothers who are housed inside for winter. Mothers are allowed to birth naturally in large stalls. • Manure and bedding from Pigs and Chickens goes back into plots to be used for gardens and the hugelbeets (raised beds) • Left over produce and cuttings get fed to the pigs and chickens. • We produce some veggies year round in our large greenhouse that provides us and some clients with fresh greens in the middle of winter.
